- Selec-Trac® II 4WD

Put it in 4WD AUTO mode. The next-generation Selec-Trac® II 4WD, with its two-speed, active “on-demand” four-wheel drive transfer case, can be engaged all the time, even on smooth dry pavement.
When driving in 4WD AUTO mode, the system instantly detects tire slip and smoothly distributes engine torque to the tires with traction. Transfer of torque from one wheel to the other on an axle is accomplished by using a Brake Traction Control system. Under the right conditions, the Liberty can be driven by one wheel.
The full-time system still has the traditional 2WD High, 4WD AUTO, and 4WD-low (4LO) operation modes. Shift the electronic shifter for outstanding off-road capability.
The 4WD system also features a Neutral position. The Neutral position permits flat towing of a Liberty behind a motor home. A pushpin button is provided to shift the transfer case to Neutral. See your dealer for details on towing your Liberty.

- Command-Trac® 4WD

The next-generation Command-Trac® 4WD uses an electric console-mounted shifter for smooth and quiet operation. The system provides equal power to all four wheels so you can get through the rough stuff.
Operational modes:
- 2WD High
- 4WD LOCK
- 4WD-low (4LO)
- Shift-on-the-fly capability
For added structural stiffness, the main axle case joint is clamped by 18 bolts — that's double the bolts of the previous generation axle.
- Two-Wheel Drive (2WD)

Available 4WD capability has been the Jeep® vehicle trademark for over six decades, but the 2010 Liberty also comes in a two-wheel drive (2WD) configuration, offering another side of Jeep® brand performance.
