    Paints, adhesives and plastics often contain considerable quantities of solvents. Unhappy with emission levels, the engineers and paint specialists at Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited’s Assembly Plant set about devising methods of eliminating solvents.

     

    The outcome is a dramatic reduction in solvent consumption and emissions, and cutting the impact on the environment. The Wrangler Unlimited's manufacturing plant is super green, thanks to a chrome-free phosphate, a lead-free E-coat process, a powder coating prime coat and a waterborne basecoat. The assembly plant is continuing the company's efforts to push powder coating and other technologies to higher levels of quality, performance and environmental friendliness.

  • Aerodynamics

    Wrangler Unlimited was extensively tested in Chrysler’s state-of-the-art Aero-Acoustic Wind Tunnel for maximum slipperiness.

     

    There was a 20% overall noise reduction over previous generation Wranglers.

    Some of the major enhancements:

    • Curved windshield
    • Sloped front grille
    • Redesigned side view mirrors
    • Refinements to both hard and soft top
    • Improved door sealing

    Wrangler Unlimited's design places greater emphasis on improved aerodynamics and reducing wind noise. Several aerodynamic aids include:

    • Lower air dam and upper fascia that manage airflow and reduce the effects of aerodynamic drag at the front end
    • Leading edges of the hood surfaces were aerodynamically tuned
    • The interface between the windshield frame and removable top was positioned from in front, to above the header for improved airflow, reduced wind noise and better weather sealing
